Chapman Mobile is an unofficial student-built project created by Layout Media to simplify life on campus. It brings essential features into one clean interface — from Panther Bucks, dining hours, parking availability, and announcements, to optional student chat tools.

Everything is built with a focus on privacy, speed, and a streamlined experience designed for actual day-to-day Chapman life. Your credentials and data are secured using industry-standard Firebase Authentication and encrypted device storage, ensuring your information stays protected.

The Idea Behind Chapman Mobile

Chapman students rely on several websites and portals, each with its own layout, login, and loading times. Checking something simple — like Panther Bucks or where to park — usually means navigating three or four different pages. Chapman Mobile was created to fix that.

The app focuses on the essentials. A fast Panther Balance fetcher. Real-time parking availability. Dining hours in one tap. Live announcements for events and campus updates. Your student info right on the home screen. No clutter, no digging through menus.

The goal wasn’t to replace Chapman’s official tools — it was to make student life smoother, removing the friction that slows down simple tasks. Everything is designed around what students actually check daily.

The app came together quickly using SwiftUI, Firebase Authentication, Firestore, and secure on-device storage. It’s a modern rebuild of the Chapman experience, but done through the lens of speed, simplicity, and student-first design.

The Experience

When you first open Chapman Mobile, everything is laid out clearly. Your name, Panther Balance, and quick navigation cards are at the top. Below that you’ll find dining hours, announcements, and parking availability.

The app pulls balance and account information through secure Firebase tokens and an encrypted login system. Your password is never stored in plain text — it’s saved using Apple’s secure Keychain and sent only through protected requests. No data is ever shared with third parties.

The optional chat system — available upon request — gives students a lightweight space to talk, similar to a simple Discord or Fizz-style feed. Messages update live using Firebase Realtime Database, include emoji reactions, inline moderation tools, and content filters. All conversations auto-purge after 90 days for privacy and performance.

Everything runs natively and instantly. No waiting on web pages, no loading multiple dashboards. It feels like what a modern campus app should be — clean, minimal, and fast.

The Future

Chapman Mobile will keep growing with new features built around how students actually use technology on campus. Future updates may include class schedule integration, dining menus, improved home widgets, deeper parking analytics, and more tools that streamline daily life.

The chat system will expand with opt-in group spaces, live reactions, tagging, and more moderation tools. The focus is always on safety, privacy, and keeping the experience simple and supportive.
